independence insider - January 2007

Greetings and a very Happy New Year to everyone!!

It's been a long time and I now have so much exciting news, I almost don't know where to start!

Firstly, we just uploaded our newly designed and restructured website. Please take a look and see how pretty it is! You may notice that several things have disappeared, and a couple of new things added. We're hoping that the site is easier to navigate and brings all of the important information out front without too many distractions. Drop us a line and let us know what you think!!

We also have a myspace page, so please stop by and add us to your friends. www.myspace.com/babylionproductions

As many of you know, or may have heard, we held two private, industry screenings this November in New York City. In addition to those members of the cast and crew that live in the New York area, many were able to make it from various parts of the country as well. One came in from Austin, five from Chicago, one from Michigan, two from Washington DC, one from Denver. We also had several special guests from Nebraska. Stafford and Jeanie Thompson came out to represent the people of Cozad and to interview several of us for KRVN (maybe some of you have heard those interviews!). Micah Carlson (Tristan) and his mother Donette and father Mark also came out to see Micah's wonderful work in the movie and to enjoy New York City.

The response to the screenings was wonderful and extremely diverse. Some people loved the story, others commented on the quality of the acting, others raved about the design, and others were impressed with the wonderful score and sound mix. A common sentiment we heard again and again was "This looks like a REAL movie." It was tremendously gratifying for us to hear, of course, and we hope to continue hearing positive reaction from the audience at...

THE OMAHA FILM FESTIVAL. That's right. We have been asked to screen our movie at The Omaha Film Festival which runs Feb. 27 - Mar. 4. We're extremely pleased to be able to have our official premiere in Nebraska and we most sincerely hope that you all can come and bring all of your friends and relatives!! We will send more information as soon as we have it. Please visit their website at http://www.omahafilmfestival.org/

Well, that's all the exciting news for now, but hopefully we'll have some more in the near future. We will be searching for ways to attract distributors to the film and applying to other film festivals so we can reach as wide an audience as possible!

It's never too late to help! Checks of any amount can be sent to our fiscal sponsor, Nebraska Independent Film Projects (NIFP) on our behalf. Because NIFP is a non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Please send checks to:
